Lake County Sheriff K9 Training

We had a great time at the Lake County Sheriff Department where we trained 24 officers from five different agencies. Twenty four kits where given out.

The Lake County K9 Unit has been in existence since 1978. There are 9 Officers who currently represent the proud tradition of the K9 unit.

These officers have spent many hours training with their K9 partner and the K9's are trained in various specialties, such as Tracking, Apprehension, and Bomb and Narcotics Detection. All K9 Officers are on call 24 hours a day as well as regular patrol duties. They respond at all hours of the day or night to assist Lake County Officers as well as many of the surrounding local agencies as well as State and Federal law enforcement.

K9 Officers are called upon routinely for community relations as far as K9 demonstrations at schools and civic organizations displaying the ability of the Officer and his Partner.

All members of the K9 Unit take their partner home as part of there family, where they take care of their partner on a daily basis. The actual K9's of the Lake County Sheriff's Department are considered Police Officers just like the their human partner. (Lake County Sheriff )

Thank You Lake County K9 Association for the donation.
